Through a conversational approach, long-time friends and colleagues Monk and Hollenbeck expand and improvise on pieces from across Monk\u2019s 50+ year catalogue, combining her pioneering vocal magic with his inventive and masterful percussion to generate new arrangements of Monk\u2019s iconic compositions.<br><br><strong>Meredith Monk<\/strong>, <em>voice, piano, jew\u2019s harp<\/em><br><strong>John Hollenbeck<\/strong>, <em>percussion<\/em><br><br>Repertoire includes:\u00a0 Selections from <em>Songs from the Hill<\/em> (1975-1976), <em>Light Songs<\/em> (1988), <em>Book of Days<\/em> (1988), <em>Cellular Songs<\/em> (2017); new, and other works.<br><br>Versions of <em>Duet Behavior: Meredith Monk and John Hollenbeck<\/em> have been performed virtually for The Noguchi Museum, Queens, New York, and live at National Sawdust, Brooklyn, New York and Big Ears Festival, Knoxville, Tennessee.<br><br>In 1987, Meredith Monk envisioned a series of music duets entitled <em>Duet Behavior<\/em> that included set pieces and improvisations<em>. <\/em>The first version was performed with Bobby McFerrin on November 20-22, 1987 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in the Next Wave Festival as part of the program, <a href=\"https:\/\/levyarchive.bam.org\/Detail\/occurrences\/1217\"><em>An Artist and Her Music<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<br><br>For bookings, contact <a href=\"mailto:lerner@meredithmonk.org\">Sarah Lerner, Executive Director<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#945fc5\"><span style=\"\"><font color=\"#993366\">&#8220;[Monk&#8217;s] evening with percussionist John Hollenbeck demonstrated how <\/font><\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">empathically attuned two artists can be.
